D/Gauge are pleased to announce that our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scanning technology partner Cordel has been awarded the Network Rail project for a surveying repository of the Network Rail network.

D/Gauge are pleased to announce that our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scanning technology partner Cordel has been awarded the Network Rail project for a surveying repository of the Network Rail network. The Railway Gauging Data Solution (RDGS)– currently known as the National Gauging Database (NGD), is Cordel’s longest contract in the UK to date, lasting 6.5 years. The contract is worth £3.2 million over the six-and-a-half-year term.

The project provides the opportunity to transform Network Rail’s gauging into a timely and accurate process. There is over 20,000 miles of track and over 30,000 structures within the Network Rail network, and 2,500 stations.

With Cordel’s exceptional scanning and data collection capabilities and D/Gauge’s expert knowledge of requirements for more accurate gauging calculations, the industry is taking steps towards further achieving a collaborative vision for clearance assessment for the railway industry: making gauging data accessible accurate and responsive for every railway engineer.

Managing Director Colin Johnson said “It is a pleasure to be supporting Cordel on this fantastic project to make a step change in gauging data. It perfectly compliments our vision, and we are very excited to be collaborating with Cordel on this big win.”

D/Gauge will be providing gauging support to Cordel on the data interpretation. With over 15 years knowledge of gauging and 40 years knowledge from the teams Technical Director and founder of computerised gauging David Johnson - their detailed knowledge of the UK’s predominantly Victorian network and available space will be key in refining the RDGS.

Nick Smith, CEO of Cordel, commented: “We are excited to have been selected for a long-term supplier agreement with Network Rail. The agreement builds on our valued relationship and capacity to provide advanced technology, which improves network reliability and reduces cost.  Moreover, we expect to provide additional services over the life of the contract, as we release new data collection and AI-powered analytic products.  This win also showcases our global partner programme, and we look forward to enjoying further success with D/Gauge.”
